Omro
The City of Omro (pop. 3,172) combines a small-town character with a forward-thinking business community. Its beautifully preserved historical downtown is complemented by a thriving industrial park on the outskirts of the city. The Fox River, running through the center of Omro, becomes one of the main attractions of the community's annual Fourth of July celebration, when 2,500 plastic ducks race down the river toward the finish line in the original "Quacker 500." The "lucky duck" whose "quacker" crosses the finish line first wins a $3,000 cash prize. Other Omro attractions include a historic silver fox tower on Highway 21, a hundred-year-old, four-sided hand-wound clock above the old City Hall on Main Street that still keeps time, and a skydiving school at the entrance to the city on Highway 21.
