Oshkosh
Oshkosh, with a population of 63,192, is the largest city in Winnebago County. It is easily accessible by a network of highways including U.S. 41, by air through Wittman Regional Airport, and by rail. Home to OshKosh B'Gosh, Inc., the famous clothing manufacturer; ArvinMeritor, Inc., a major supplier of drivetrain components and systems; Curwood, Inc., a packaging manufacturer; Leach Co., makers of garbage trucks; Oshkosh Truck Corp., a manufacturer of heavy trucks; Morgan Manufacturing, makers of solid wood doors; and the Miles Kimball Co., among others, the city features a strong, diverse economic base. The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh campus with more than 11,000 students, and the Experimental Aircraft Association with its annual international EAA AirVenture keep things lively. Lake Winnebago on the east end of the city, Lake Butte des Morts on the west end and the Fox River running through the middle provide year-round recreational opportunities for Oshkosh residents. The Paine Art Center and Arboretum, Oshkosh Public Museum, and beautifully restored Grand Opera House provide year-round cultural opportunities as well. Other attractions include the EAA Air Adventure Museum and Prime Outlets.
